Stop!

So what are you saying?

special01aFor those of you that have a mind set of moving forward, we find it very hard to STOP! Many of our passions are centered around, "let's get the job done first, then we will rest" which is a good characteristic to have during the right season. Solomon writes in Ecclesiastes 3, "To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: . . . a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; a time to break down, and time to build up". I would add, "a time to work, and a time to refrain from working; a time to go speedily ahead, and a time to come to a screeching halt". Solomon, the preacher, was right in his statement in the book of Ecclesiastes.

During the time of Moses death, the children of Israel stopped from their daily activities to mourn the death of their leader. They took out thirty days to mourn his death before going into the promised land. At the end of the thirty days of mourning, Joshua received the charge from God saying, "Moses my servant is dead; take this people Israel over into the promised land." Even during a period of pause, the blessing and promises of God were still at work.

special01bFinally, when we pray . . . we stop to recognize God as our supreme creator of the universe. As he taught his disciples to pray, "Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy nameā€¦" we assume our prayer position then pray to God. He is the one that brings comfort in the times of storm and distressful times. God is the one that says, lo, I am with you always even until the end of the age. So every now and then, we must STOP! We stop to recognize that God is a man that loves us; he loved us enough to send his only son to die for our sins. Stop and recognize God.
