A Season of Blessings

Ready to receive a blessing from the Lord

leavesAs we enter into autumn, we reflect on the marvelous works that God has done in our lives since the beginning of this festival season. This “Season of Blessings” began during the springtime when we celebrated the Passover, Feast of Unleavened Bread, and the Pentecost (Feast of Weeks). Each of these festival days provides insight into the blessing plan that God has laid out for his people. The first part of the blessing plan is our obedience to God’s word; for his word is truth. Leviticus 23 provides an overview of the seasons that we are to observe. God says in the introduction to this text, “These are my feasts”.

The second part of the blessing plan is to assemble with other believers in a holy convocation. We are to gather together to celebrate the festivals of the Lord in the place where he chose to place his name. For many Christian believers, that would be our local church assemblies. Finally, we are commanded to bring an offering to the festival that will assist with the celebratory activities. “Three times in the year all thy males shall appear before the Lord God.” (Exodus 23:17) Every male should have an offering to present; and none of the men should appear before God empty in this case without an offering. God promises us a blessing if we keep these commands; we will be blessed in the city, blessed in the fields, the fruit of our womb will be blessed, and our business dealings will be blessed. (Deut. 28:1-13)

basketAs we enter this season of festivals, we should expect God’s blessings to overtake us like the waters that fall from the Niagara. God says that he will open the windows of heaven that we won’t have room enough to receive his blessings. We can only receive his blessings after we have been obedient to his word. The festival of Trumpets, Day of Atonement, and the feast of Harvest Ingathering are the final festival days of this blessing season. I encourage you to find a local house of worship, attend the festival services, and bring an offering and watch God work in your favor.

“The Lord is my Shepherd and I shall not want.” When we are lead by the Spirit of God, positive things begin to happen. We are able to make better decisions during life test and trials. God will always lead his flock to “edible” pastures that are necessary for growth and development of our spiritual man. Continue to follow your Shepherd because he knows what’s best for you and he understands the challenges that you face day to day. Be of good courage.
